Uwell Caliburn a3 pod review: a great alternative to disposable devices
well Caliburn A3 Pod Kit: A Reliable Choice for disposable devices
Uwell has established itself as a reputable brand in the vaping industry, known for making some of the most popular high-quality pod systems, such as the original Caliburn and the newer Caliburn G.
Their latest addition, the Caliburn A3, is the newest addition to their A-series collection of compact devices and builds on the success of its predecessors to deliver an improved vaping experience.
In this review, we’ll examine the Caliburn A3’s essential features, Design, performance, and overall quality and provide insights to help you decide if it’s worth upgrading to this new device.
Design & Build Quality
The Caliburn A3 Uwell retains the sleek pen-style Design and button-activated operation of the A2 pod vape but adds faster charging and new safety features.
It has a 520mAh battery and 2ml e-juice capacity, and it uses 1.0Ω Caliburn A3 pods that deliver the same excellent flavor and throat hit that Uwell pods are known for.
It weighs only 31g, making it light and easy to carry. The durable aluminum alloy case has a beautiful finish that resists fingerprints and keeps your device looking clean and polished.
Size: 109.8 x 21.3x 11.7mm
Material: Aluminum-Alloy + PCTG
Max Wattage: 13W
Battery Capacity: 520mAh
Charging Port: USB Type-C
Operation: Firing Button / Draw-Activation
Pod Capacity: 2mL
It’s available in six vibrant colors – red, silver, gray, green, blue, and black – so you can pick one that matches your style. I tested the red version, which has a nice shiny candy-apple finish.
The newly contoured mouthpiece on the Caliburn A3 provides a comfortable vaping experience. At first glance, it looks nearly identical to the previous A2 model.
However, upon closer inspection, you’ll notice the rounded pod base and LED battery indicator panel – subtle but valuable changes. The quick charge feature is a noticeable improvement over the A2, letting you return to vaping faster.
The build quality of the Caliburn A3 pod system is solid, with no rattles or weak points in the construction. The pod attaches securely via strong magnets, and the fire button has an excellent tactile click when pressed.
Overall, the A3 pod system kit exudes the same high-quality craftsmanship as previous Caliburn devices.
Pod & Coils
The UWELL Caliburn A3 is a sleek pod system with a magnetic pod holding 2mL of liquid and a top-fill design, allowing easy and convenient e-liquid refilling.
The package has a 1.0Ω Caliburn A3 refillable pod that provides a satisfying MTL draw.
I was impressed with their longevity, getting over 20mL through one pod before the flavor faded slightly.
The draw provides a tight MTL pull for nic salts or higher nic regular e-juice. The vapor stays smooth and consistent until the very end of the pod’s life.
Battery & Charging
Caliburn a3 pod has a built-in 520mah LiPo battery. I get about two complete pods per full charge, translating to 1-2 days of moderate use. While not the most extended runtime, the A3 makes up for it with a much-improved charging speed.
Its fast charging capability is a critical feature that sets the Caliburn a3 apart. Uwell claims a 0-100% charge in just 15 minutes. My test came in right around 30 minutes. Either way, Type-C charging is miles ahead of previous hour+ charging times.
The tri-color LED underneath the device glows red, blue, or green to indicate the remaining battery life. The LED light on the bottom of the device is more noticeable when vaping, giving users a clear indication of their battery life.
Performance & Vapor Quality
Regarding performance, the UWell Caliburn A3 is a new pod vape that offers different draw options: automatic and manual. Its feature automatically activates the inhalation and turns off the fire button.
It is convenient for those who prefer to use something other than buttons on their devices.
The visible e-juice window design of the Caliburn A3 allows you to see the liquid capacity easily, and the airflow on the Caliburn A3 has been described as “really nice.”
It provides a tight and comfortable MTL vaping experience, perfect for those who prefer a restricted draw.
The output with the 1.0-ohm pods tops out at a rounded 13W regardless of battery charge.
I’ve been using 35mg nic salts, and the hit feels just right. The vapor is smooth but still substantial. Overall, the performance aligns with what I expect from the Caliburn series.
How to Use Caliburn A3
Operating the Caliburn A3 is straightforward, making it ideal for vapers of all experience levels. Just fill up a pod, let it saturate for 5-10 minutes, and snap it into place magnetically.
The pod device does not have adjustable wattage or airflow settings, but its preset settings provide a satisfying draw and consistent performance.
You can click the fire button five times to turn the device on and off, with the added feature of enabling auto draw by clicking it two times.
It is also a great help to prevent the button from firing accidentally when in a pocket or bag, and the ability to switch between manual and auto-draw makes it a great alternative to disposable devices.
Caliburn A3 Vs Caliburn A2
The Design of the A3 is reminiscent of the Caliburn A2, with some subtle but significant changes. Uwell Caliburn A3 has a different design on the bottom, and due to the difference in shape and size of the A2 pod, the A3 pod will not be compatible with the A2 model.
Another difference between the A3 and the A2 is that you can now click the fire button five times to turn the unit off and on, and two clicks turn off the fire button but enable auto draw, a significant improvement over the A2 pod.
Its fast charging capability is a critical feature that sets the A3 apart from the Caliburn a2 pod. Uwell claims a 0-100% charge in just 15 minutes. My test came in right around 30 minutes. Either way, Type-C charging is miles ahead of previous hour+ charging times.
The Caliburn A3 is praised for its mouthpiece design, with the A2 series being considered the best mouthpiece that Caliburn makes, so it would be better if both mouthpieces were the same.
However, it is still regarded as one of the top five pod systems available.

Cons Of Caliburn A3 pod
- Pods aren’t compatible with the previous Caliburn
Uwell Caliburn A3 Pod System is a compact and well-made device with good coils, top fill, improved taste, and features like quick charge and LED indicator.
With a new feature that automatically activates the inhale and turns off the fire button, providing convenience for users who prefer buttonless devices.
Overall, the A3 refines an excellent pod system but lacks significant improvements over the cheaper A2. The faster charging is convenient, and the button lock feature is helpful for most pod vaping users.
However, it still has an average battery capacity that needs to be updated with more battery capacity.
While an easy-to-use pen-style pod system with satisfying flavor, the A3 isn’t an essential upgrade for A2 owners but an excellent option for new vapers transitioning from disposable vape to pod or heavy smokers for beginning vaping.
