Vaporesso Armour Max & Armour S kit review: A Durable and Powerful Mod Kit


In an industry that often leans towards disposable vaping or pod system options, VAPORESSO’s latest launch, the Armour Max and Armour S kits, mark a bold and refreshing return to mod-centric vaping excellence.

It’s interesting to see Vaporesso return to the mod market with both single and dual battery options, catering to different user preferences and providing a safe and comfortable vaping experience.


The ARMOUR MAX fires up to a powerful 220W with two external 21700 batteries. The ARMOUR S reaches 100W with a single 21700 battery for those who prefer a slimmer profile. Both Armour kits also support 18650 batteries with the included adapters for flexibility.

Vaporesso Armour mod is made primarily from TPU material and can accommodate up to a 28mm tank; opting for the kit includes the impressive iTank 2 sub ohm tank and two mesh GTI coils for flavorful sub ohm vaping up to 85W.

The AXON chip powers these mods and promises a powerful and customizable vaping experience.

Design & Build Quality & Functions

Designed for durability and performance, the VAPORESSO ARMOUR MAX and ARMOUR S Mods feature rugged yet lightweight construction. Constructed almost entirely of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), these devices combine durability with elegance.

The textured TPU finish adds to the aesthetic appeal and enhances the grip, ensuring the vape device won’t slip from your hands.

ARMOUR MAX measures 96mm x 56.5mm x 34mm, and the ARMOUR S is slightly smaller at 93.8mm x 41.9mm x 36mm. The dimensions of the devices are thoughtfully designed to optimize comfort and functionality.

Both mods feature a 0.96″ TFT color display for a clear and vivid view of your vaping data. However, the display is small for such a big device, making it hard to see its information.

These devices are powered by external dual 21700/18650 batteries for the ARMOUR MAX and a single 21700/18650 battery for the ARMOUR S.

The battery doors have a hidden push button and a spring-loaded mechanism, with the max allowing for dual 21700 batteries and a well-thought-out battery door mechanism.

The vape mod features pulse mode, eco mode, temperature control, and customizable puff counter themes.

A standout feature is the sliding lock button, a simple yet innovative solution to prevent misfires. This feature lets you quickly lock the device so it doesn’t accidentally light up in your pocket or bag.

The iTank 2 sub-ohm tank included with both devices is equally impressive. It features a generous 8mL capacity and a push-button, swivel top fill design that makes refills quick and mess-free.

The tank comes with two mesh GTI coils, 0.2 and 0.4 ohms, and offers the option of 0.15 and 0.5 ohms coils, allowing for versatile vaping experiences.

I did multiple tests with different GTI coils and modes. The Eco mode was found to be the best.

The adjustable airflow and plug-n-play coil installation enhance the ease of use and vaping quality.


Vaporesso Armour S and Armour Max 21700 kits have a similar design with a small display and a locking system.

You can also lock the “+” and “-” buttons, with the main difference being the size and battery type, and the vape kit is durable and easy to use.

The Armour Max delivers robust performance with two 21700 batteries pumping up to 220W. The ARMOUR S, with a single 21700 battery, offers a more compact form factor while still delivering reliable power.

I tested the 0.2Ω and 0.15Ω coils included in the kit as well as the 0.4Ω and 0.5Ω coils sold separately.

In the default F(t) mode, the 0.2Ω coil produces excellent flavor with pleasant warmth at the recommended 70W. Compared to the base wattage mode, the F(t) mode smooths and cools the draw.

But the 0.15Ω coil is even better, excelling at the recommended 85W with fantastic flavor. The smooth, warm draw became my favorite vape. This lower resistance coil shines in the dual battery Armour Max.

The 0.4Ω and 0.5Ω coils felt slightly underpowered at their best-rated wattages of 55W and 35W, respectively.

Bumping them up to 60W and 40W helped strengthen the draw and vapor. The flavor was good, but not as great as the lower ohm options.

It’s really good to have four different coil options, but I wish they had a better coil option with higher wattage.

I also tested the temperature control performance with stainless steel builds. The Armour Max regulates temperature smoothly and consistently in TC-SS mode. It compares favorably to the accuracy of the DNA chip.

However, the versatility of temperature control suffers from the lack of adjustable TCR. The 80W power limit in TC may also limit specific fancy wire builds. But for most basic TC vaping, the performance is excellent.

The Armour Max offers various modes beyond TC and wattage for custom vaping. Eco mode maximizes battery life, and the Ft. and Pulse modes allow you to customize the wattage, while the Curve modes aim to enhance flavor and smoothness.

Speaking of battery life, the 21700 offers all-day vaping for heavier users. I could quickly go 6-8 hours before recharging. The batteries charge at a fast 2A rate, as listed.

The spring-loaded battery door makes it easy to change cells; however, The hidden battery door on the bottom is quite tight, but when it’s closed, it locks very tightly, which is always a concern with this type of door.

The firing button is a standout feature with a slide-to-lock feature and quick-firing, and it’s durable enough to withstand being dropped from a height.

The Armour Max & Armour S by Vaporesso includes an iTank 2 sub-ohm tank that perfectly complements the mod’s performance. It has bubble glass with 8ml, a top fill feature, and a removable shield.

The tank unlocks by sliding it down and then up, providing a safe and convenient way to access it. The insulator inside the coil is interesting. It prevents you from pulling up the e-juice.

A TPU protective tank cover is also included, providing additional protection against drops and falls, while the only downside is the dark tank makes it hard to see the liquid level in low light.

In conclusion, the Vaporesso Armour S and Armour Max 21700 kits exhibit outstanding design and build quality.

Their sturdy construction, user-friendly features, and customizable options make them reliable for vapers seeking a durable and high-performing vape device.
